Welcome to the DANNFEST website! This site exists solely to express appreciation (and love) for all the musicians and artists who have shared their music/art and their friendship over the years.
What the heck is DANNFEST? DANNFEST is an all day music festival.
The initial DANNFEST was kind of a fluke. In early July of 2024, Dann was asked if he wanted to play at Ounces Outdoors on August 10th 2024 for a 3 hour gig. Dann accepted the gig and started calling friends to see who was available to play the event.
Well, Dann received responses from a lot of people saying they wanted to play. Once he started counting up the number of singers, guitarists and other assorted musicians who were interested in playing, he figured he had enough people for multiple bands. Dann reached out to Waz, Abby, and Jojo at Ounces Outdoors and suggested a whole day’s worth of music. Ounces Outdoors agreed to the having the event and DANNFEST became a real vision.
So what does one do to organize a small festival? It is pretty easy, you reach out to the singers and ask them what songs they want to sing. Once that is determined and the set lists are finalized you recruit musicians to play with each singer. So we just need rehearsals?
Nope!!! While many band members lived locally, others lived in different parts of California and some lived in other states. It became apparent that the rehearsals were not going to happen.
So what did we do? Everyone did their homework :). Yep everybody learned their parts prior to the gig and (for the most part) songs turned out great!
My favorite potter (Kayla Friedrichsen) had a booth displaying some of her pieces. Local artist Tanya Nelson also had a booth and shared her art work. Tanya also did face painting for the kids and many little ones were running around with brightly painted faces.
At DANNFEST 2024 forty three (43) musicians/singers showed up to share their talents. It was a fun day of music and friendship!!!
Thank you to everyone that was involved and a special thank you to my friends who showed up early and stayed late to setup and tear down the equipment (Bryan Huggins, Yousef Saadeh, Dave Mason, Anette Moreno, and Fox Scarlett).
