Joe Deviney
DannFest Set Time: 5:00

Joe went crazy for the guitar back in the 80’s and 90’s, wrote some songs, played in a
few bands, made a couple of recordings, and performed in Bay Area clubs. Then in the
late nineties, feeling the repeated disappointment of bands breaking up and members
taking off to pursue real jobs, Joe put his axe in its box and went crazy for the cello,
played in numerous community orchestras and chamber ensembles, and even taught
cello for a year. Then in the early 2000’s, as his family grew, he too felt the need to
pursue real jobs….so he put his cello in its box and focused on providing for and being
there for his amazing and wonderful home team.
In 2015, Joe discovered that a few professional colleagues liked to jam so he took his
axe out of its box, downloaded the Guitar Tabs app, and has been on a California tour
that plays pop covers of a variety of genres that his inebriated colleagues request (and
come up to sing later in the evenings) twice a year at conferences as Shoeless Joe
and the Unfunded Mandates.
Joe feels so privileged that Dann entered his life and encouraged him to play at
Dannfest. Since then, and always having a severe penchant for pop tunes, Joe went
crazy, once again, and has been inspired to work up a few acoustic versions of some
current pop tunes into his set.
“It feels so good to be inspired to play music,” says Joe, “everyone needs a Dann in
their life.”
