Nathan Craver, singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist, is originally from Montana but grew up in San Francisco during the 1960s-70s and was influenced by the blend of folk/rock/country/jazz/classical/world/psychedelia musics of the times. Nathan started his musical progress with a summer of piano lessons at 6 (which didn’t stick but came in handy later!), followed by guitar at 12, while simultaneously playing viola in Junior High orchestra. He also picked up bass guitar, drums and mandolin during the 70s. In later years, as Nathan and his wife, Yosifah Rose Craver, became involved with and studied Arabic classical music, he has become competent playing the oud and Arabic percussion instruments with their band Al Azifoon, as well as the Bay Area’s Aswat Ensemble.

Nathan has performed and recorded with many Bay Area artists over the years. He and his wife also have an original folk-rock duo, Indigo Caravan, which released an album in 2014 and performs occasionally in the area. When Nathan went to work for the County of Marin in 2015, he started playing with the County band, the County Crows and eventually became the de facto leader. Since retiring in 2024, he has been less involved but still plays with them as time permits. At DannFest, Nathan will be performing with the County Crows and also separately with Crows Dann and Bene’ in an improvisational trio. He may also sit in with various other acts as allowed!
